COACHING AT ESSENDON LITTLE ATHLETICS

 

Essendon Little Athletics will be introducing a new coaching program for the 2021/2022 season. This program is offered to all registered athletes free of charge.

Coaching is optional and is a great way of meeting athletes in different age groups.

U6-U8 Athletes – Monday 4.30pm to 5.15pm

This coaching for our younger athletes will be taken by Angela Bremner and will focus on fundamental athletic skills.

Please register on Team App for the group “Coaching U6-U8” to receive updates for cancellations and changes.

All athletes are required to wear their name tags.

Please note that parent assistance is required for all attending athletes.

U9-U16 Athletes – Monday 5.30pm to 6.30pm

During this time, athletes will have the option to coach in specific areas.

Throwing – this will be coached by Travis Wilson. Travis will coach shot put, discus and javelin.

Running and Hurdles – this will be coached by Susi Strasser.

Jumping – this will be coached by Susi Strasser and Daniel Duncan.

Each Monday coaching session will focus on a different event. These will rotate throughout the season. There will always be a running/jumping and throwing option.

Relay Training

Relay training will be provided to all athletes competing in Region and State Relays. This training will be provided by Heather Wilson and Jack Hale. Times and dates for this will be advised once relays have been confirmed.

Are you a Parent that is interested in joining our Coaching Team?

LAVic offers a program called ITLAS: Introduction to Teaching Little Athletics Skills. This program is designed to help participants become better placed to assist children to perform basic athletic skills. The course is great for parents, volunteers, previous Little Athletes and school teachers, who want to know a little more about the skills of the sport.
