NRM Regional Track & Field Carnival Wrap
In rather warm conditions as we have come to expect, we traveled to Whittlesea City for the weekend to compete in the 2019 NRM Regional Track & Field Carnival. The event was a great success and I’m sure like myself you enjoyed seeing our remarkable group of athletes test themselves against the best kids in the region, with goals of PBs, Finals, Medals and State qualification in their plans.
Special thanks to our team managers Michelle and Steve who kept us all organized, provided the last-minute black tap to cover logos on shorts and maintained a steady supply for lollies for the little pick me up we all needed. Thanks also to Gwen, Carol, Jamie and also Ben Gray, along with Starters Neil and Graham who all did a mountain of work across the weekend. Was great to see all our parents and families doing their bit and then getting the chance to relax in the shade and watch our brilliant little athletes.
So some numbers for you, we had 74 athletes compete during the event, those athletes collected a combined 115 medals, 49 Gold, 32 Silver and 34 Bronze, setting 7 new NRM records in the process.
Josh Djatschenko BU11 Long Jump 4.69m (Old Record 4.57m)
Ella Duncan GU11 Triple Jump 8.70m (Old record 8.55m)
Faith Vili GU14 Shot Put 12.31m (Old Record 11.81m)
Divine Vili BU12 Shot Put 12.90m
Amanda Wrout GU14 – 200H 30.65sec (Old Record 31.05)
Benjamin Williamson BU16 – 200M 24.01sec (Old Record 24.02) & 300H 43.41sec
Chloe Perrett GU16 – High Jump 1.47m (Equaled old mark of 1.47m, before a new mark was set by the eventual winner of 1.49m)
Remember to keep an eye out for state qualifiers, with the event to held on the weekend of 16th & 17th of March at Casey Fields, fingers crossed for everyone!
A full list of medal winners can be found over on Facebook, super impressive stuff, this doesn’t include a truck load of PB’s and so many other finalists, the kids should all be so proud of how they competed and showed terrific sportsmanship at every turn.
