Cross Country (Week 5 Cancelled)
Unfortunately due to the current COVID situation in Victoria this week’s planned Cross Country in Sunbury has been cancelled. Hopefully this will just be the planned 7 day lockdown and we’ll be able to resume for week 6 back at Keilor.
Also note the State Cross Country Replay competition also planned for June 5th has been postponed to August 14th.
Cross Country update
Three weeks of Cross Country complete and it’s been a mix of conditions, with a real taste of winter this past weekend at Keilor. We have had record numbers of athletes take part in Cross Country and 16 new athletes have joined the Centre to take part. We hope all families are enjoying getting back into Cross Country after missing out completely in 2020.
Don’t got to head over the results section to check the weekly times and finishing positions, hopefully seeing some improvement in those times as the season goes on.

Week 12 – Combined Event
This week we are running our annual Combined Event Round starting at 8am. The Combined Event is the Little Athletics equivalent of the Decathalon/Heptathalon. The concept is to determine the best overall athlete across a range of disciplines including running, jumping and throwing. Points are awarded for the performance in each individual discipline and are then combined at the conclusion to determine a total point score.
Athletes performances will count towards end of season awards but we will also be awarding medals to the top 3 place getters in U7-16 age groups. To finish in the final placings, athletes need to compete in all events for their age group. There is also a Trophy for the Team whose members accrues the most points on the day.
Ensure you don’t miss an event – arrive on time and earn points for yourself & your Team by competing in all events!
Training – Sanctioned training is on Monday nights from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. Due to COVID requirements, we can only have 20 athletes attend Susi’s general training each night. Families will be required to sign up each week during Centre competition for the following Monday night. Please listen out for the announcement as to when sign-up is open.
As Relay training is also in progress on Monday nights, there is to be no throwing training (unless you are in Susí’s group) during 4:30-6:30 for safety reasons.
