At Essendon Little Athletics, fundraising is about much more than raising money - it's about bringing our community together.

Lachy Day

One of the highlights of the ELAC calendar is Lachy Day - a special day that celebrates the life, spirit and legacy of Lachlan Jorgensen, a much-loved member of our club.

Lachy Day is a chance for our entire community to come together to remember Lachy, celebrate everything he stood for and enjoy a fun-filled day of athletics, friendship and community.  The day is about much more than competition. It's about kindness, inclusion, resilience and supporting one another - values that continue to shape our club today.

All funds raised through Lachy Day go to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.  In the 25/6 season, ELAC raised over $4,000 and was the 4th biggest donation of all Little Athletics Victoria clubs.

The Lachlan Jorgensen Handicap

A highlight of Lachy Day is the Lachlan Jorgensen Handicap, one of ELAC's most anticipated annual events.

The Handicap brings athletes of different ages and abilities together in a unique race where carefully calculated handicaps give everyone the opportunity to cross the finish line first.

More than just a race, the Handicap captures everything Little Athletics is about. It's not necessarily the fastest athlete who wins - it's about determination, effort, sportsmanship and giving every participant an equal opportunity to succeed.
