Our Commitment to Every Child

At Essendon Little Athletics Centre, the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of children and young people is our highest priority.  Every child has the right to participate in sport in an environment where they feel safe, respected, supported and valued.

We are committed to creating a culture that promotes child safety in everything we do.

Our Commitment

ELAC is committed to:

  • Providing a safe and welcoming environment for all children
  • Treating every child with dignity and respect
  • Promoting inclusion and participation for children of all backgrounds and abilities
  • Listening to the voices of children and families
  • Responding promptly to concerns or complaints
  • Meeting all child safety obligations under Victorian legislation and Little Athletics Victoria requirements
  • Working With Children Checks

All coaches, Committee members and volunteers who are required to hold a valid Working With Children Check must do so before undertaking child-related roles.  The club maintains processes to ensure relevant checks remain current and compliant.

Code of Conduct

Everyone involved with ELAC, including athletes, parents, volunteers and officials, is expected to uphold our Code of Conduct.

We believe respectful behaviour creates a positive environment where children can enjoy sport free from discrimination, bullying, harassment or intimidation.

Reporting a Concern

If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible for a confidential discussion with our Child Safety Officer.  Reports will be treated seriously, respectfully and confidentially in accordance with our reporting procedures.
