Week 1 Complete
Amazing to be back at the track, welcoming back our families and so many new faces. Thanks to everyone to helped on the day to, seems like everyone enjoyed catching up with friends, competing and having a fun time.
With the announcements on Sunday from the Government we will likely see some changes to how we operated last week, we are currently waiting on this direction from LAVic. These changes will hopefully affect this coming weekend and see us move closer to the program you have become accustom too.
Saturday looks warm so remember not to forget a Hat, Sunscreen, Water and some Food.
Look for more updates to come in the next day or two for the Week 2 program.
Registrations are OPEN!
The Registration Portal is now open to New and Returning athletes
We now move another step closer to the return to competition at ELAC, now time to get on and sign up for the 2020/21 season. As we have already shared we have cut our registration fee down to just $100 per athlete, one of the lowest in the state.
So now for some important points:
- To enable us to plan around the COVID safe requirements, we require anyone wishing to compete on Nov 21st to have registered by 7:00pm Thursday November 19th.
- All adults entering the track will be required to sign in with a provided QR code on their mobile device.
- COVID restrictions allow for only 1 parent to attend, unless a second parent has a pre arranged duty to fill
- We will run a modified program in Week 1, exact details will be shared next week with the first events to commence at 8:30am. This will include age group specific start times to minimise the numbers at the track across the morning.
- There will be NO canteen or BBQ
New athletes are able to sign up for a free two week trial at https://lavic.com.au/membership/new-member/trial-athlete-offer/
We hope these restrictions will only be imposed for a short time and we can return to our usual program soon enough. We thank everyone for their understanding and can’t wait to see you all down at the track on Nov 21st.

Competition is returning to Essendon Little Athletics
Planned start date November 21st 2020.
After months of lockdown and having the 2019/20 season cut short, we can’t wait to welcome returning and new members as we celebrate 50 years of this great Centre.
We understand the sacrifices made during these unprecedented times and want to support all families by offering a significantly lower membership fee of $100 per athlete for season 2020/21, with no weekly competition fee required for this season (note: returning families will also receive a 15% discount on the LAVic portion of the fee ($82) which will be coordinated by LAVic.)
We are in the final stages of completing our COVID safe planning and requirements in line with Sports and Recreation Victoria and Little Athletics Victoria, our COVID Safe Officers have been appointed so we can provide a safe and happy environment for all of our families.
Keep an eye out for the registration portal. We will advise as soon as this is open, as always all registration are completed online. Team tops will be available for purchase at the Centre prior the beginning of competition.
NMR Region Track & Field
It’s Region Track & Field time again and entries are closing shortly (Tuesday 28th 11:59pm)
Don’t miss your chance to compete at this great event, representing Essendon Little Aths against the other centres in our region.
As long as you have competed at 4 centre competitions and are U9-U16 you can register and we want to see as many of you as we can.
So get online, pick up to 4 events and we’ll see you in the Red and Black at Keilor on the weekend of Feb 15-16.
NMR Region Relays
Fantastic day at the NMR Region Relay Carnival, the whole team did us all so proud.
Thanks to Heather and Travis for all their work as Team Managers and all the parents who looked after each age group. The day could only be described as organised chaos, that’s relays for you!
The Centre finished with 10 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals, well done to all of the teams that took part.
Teams to advance to the State Carnival have been announced, please check the link to see all the details
Plenty going on over the first 4 weeks of competition after a mix of different weather including a very tough wind last week.
- Relay training is in full swing on Monday and Wednesday evenings with more than 80 athletes expected to represent the Centre at Diamond Valley on November 23rd.
- The OnTrack program has begun for our young athletes on Monday evenings from 5:00-5:45pm with our great coach Paul Bray, get down and learn some new skills!
Looks like it might be a bit wet this weekend so please keep an eye out on TeamApp and the Social media platforms on Saturday morning to see if competition will go ahead.
